2006 IMLA Region 3B  Educator of the Year

Jody Hill

    The 2006 Region 3B Teacher of the Year for IMLA, Jody Hill, is a dedicated professional for 13 years and has not missed an IMLA Conference since she started teaching.

    Jody is a team player who is always willing to carry her share of the duties within the 6th grade block.  She volunteers to send letter home about AR trips, organize field trips, and share the responsibility with other grade level activities.  She takes an active role planning curriculum and especially with unit events and has good ideas and willingly shares information with the team.  Jody is the originator of the Fiesta - the culminating event for the Latin America unit, gathering lariats, gold mining pans, dummy bull heads used for roping and supplies for Spanish bingo. 

    Jody's expertise is in the field of science.  She inspires many of her students to become budding scientists.  Jody  is our "disease" expert and her student remind us to wash, wash, wash.  Jody has participated in SOARS and the Jason Project and drags the rest of us along.  Utilizing all available technology, spending many hours at home downloading information to share in the classroom, and attending a science workshop or seminars each summer are just a small part of Jody's dedication to her students.  She recently floated down the Payette River and has participated several times in Birds of Prey classes.  She is always ready to share information from conferences and workshops she has attended.  She recently shared with us that if the butt is dead, so also is the brain 

     A team member of the "Creating High Performing Schools Initiative" with the Albertson's foundation, she continually brought the needs to the middle school before the committee.   

    Jody does all this  with the help of her favorite food--CHOCOLATE!!!!!
